Google Tag Manager
For those whom have not had much experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM) then this process may seem more complex, but rest assured the requirements here will simplify your need to become GDPR compliant, where the 'Express Consent' cookie directive is required.
As an E-Commerce agency we adopted GTM early and have most of our supplementary site add-ons installed via GTM.
Here are some of the typical services we use which will fire 3rd Party Cookies (or beacons)
- Google Analytics
- Google Adwords Remarketing
- Google Optimise
- Zendesk Chat
- Facebook Pixel Tracking
All of the above are considered non-essential cookies and therefore you must ensure that such services are lifted out of your Magento code-base and into a GTM container. Our extension will then simply install the GTM container on the page ONLY when 'Express Consent' has been granted.
